According to one study of 746 asylum seekers in 2000-2004, 89% of cases that submitted a psychological or medical evaluation as evidence had asylum granted. That is over 50% higher than those who did not submit an evaluation.
Some agencies take months to complete your report. We guarantee that you will have a final report within 7-10 business days after receiving all necessary information. We will be communicating with you every step of the way.
If you are a client going through immigration proceedings, your attorney may have encouraged you to get a “psychological evaluation” for your case. Chances are you’ve never been to a psychologist or therapist, and have no idea why you need to go now. The purpose of the evaluation is not to assess how “crazy” you are. The purpose is to provide a bigger picture about who you are, what you have overcome, and give a little more context to those who will review your case. According to one study that followed 746 asylum seekers in 2000-2004, 89% percent of asylum cases were granted when a psychological or medical evaluation was submitted. Only 37% of cases were granted without an evaluation. We know that these evaluations add a lot of evidence to your case!
We know how strange and stressful it is to tell your story to a stranger. We know you’ve done this with your attorney, and now you’re being told you have to do it with a mental health professional. It is exhausting. We work hard to make this process as easy as possible for you.
Everyone can benefit from seeing a mental health professional! Telling your story can help release all of the stress you are feeling. You might also learn some helpful ideas to manage stress and start feeling better. The reason your attorney is asking you to get an evaluation is not because they think you are crazy, it is because they want to add as much evidence to your case as possible.
We know you are not crazy. You’ve gone through some tough stuff, and you are so strong! When we go through scary or traumatic events, our lives can change. This is actually very normal. Anxiety, depression, and stress are normal responses to challenges. It does not make you crazy, and we will not call you crazy.
You don’t have to! If you are looking for an evaluation, you are only required to attend one appointment. You can read more about the appointments on the “For Clients” page. During the appointment, you’ll be asked a number of questions about yourself, asked to fill out a couple of questionnaires, and that is all. It is much easier than it seems.
